Iphone OS V4 and Iphone 4th Generation release date soon

Monday, June 7th, 2010

Steve Jobs has just announced that the new operating system for the Ipod Touch / Ipad / Iphone will be made available to the public on 21st June 2010 at the WWDC (Apple Worldwide Developers Conference).

This operating system has been renamed to iOS4 and is set to give the mobile devices new functionality including multi-tasking (specific devices only) and a whole new range of other addiotion exciting features. The full list can be found on the Wikipedia page here which also details the changes of all the versions of the OS.

The OS 4.0 was originally announced on April 8th 2010 and the features included were expected by many but some new ones thrown in. There was disappointment that the FM radio tuner was not activated and indications back in September 2009 showed that the Broadcom chip used in the devices also has this functionality and that Apple was developing an FM radio App.

There are arguments that an external aerial would be required for the FM radio but it could be possible for the headphones to provide this as with the Ipod Nano.

Maybe a future update? I would welcome the FM radio as some people do still listen to it!
