20/08/09 - Fair well Blyk in the UK!
Blyk the free mobile operator shuts down operations in the UK at the end of August 2009. Blyk a mobile phone operator for 16-24 year olds is unique to the others in the UK. Users are given free credit in return for receiving mobile adverts via sms and mms on their mobiles. The service proved very popular and very quickly the Blyk UK network had signed up over 100,000 users.
Users also had the option to top-up their credit via the usual ways. Unfortunately Blyk is now closing but state they will be joining up with a current UK operator and offering similar deals alongside other mobile tariffs.
